Michelin

Michelin has long been committed to better mobility by constantly making travelling safer, easier, more economical and more respectful of people and the environment. Michelin has taken the lead within the global tyre industry by developing environmentally responsible and sustainable approaches to mobility which can be carried by the planet and society over the long term.

Michelin Australia is proud to support Solar Spirit Australia at this year’s World Solar Challenge as it shares the same mission to develop technology to drive a sustainable future.

It is our responsibility to provide our customers with ever more environmentally-friendly products and services. Accordingly, our permanent innovation policy focuses on enhancing the environmental performance of mobility. A major outcome of this environmental strategy was the arrival of the first green tyre in 1992 featuring low rolling resistance technology. With the environment playing on the mind of the consumer more than ever, the benefits of low rolling resistance tyres have never been more relevant or more appealing. Now, MICHELIN offers a complete line of energy-efficient and fuel-saving tyres to meet the most immediate of consumer needs.

The most recent innovation has been MICHELIN GREEN X technology and the GREEN X tyre labelling system. When you see the MICHELIN Green X® label on a Michelin tyre, this guarantees a level of energy efficiency among the highest on the market. With this label, Michelin shows its commitment to reducing both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, while offering all the recognized advantages of MICHELIN tyres in terms of longevity, safety and performance.

Since the launch of the first “green” tyre in 1992, MICHELIN tyres have helped reduce worldwide fuel consumption by 11 billion litres and C02 emissions by more than 28 million tonnes. Michelin’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and a better way forward continues.

Michelin is dedicated to sustainably improving the mobility of goods and people by manufacturing and marketing tyres for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles/motorcycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, trucks and the US space shuttle. Headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand, France, Michelin is present in 170 countries, has around 120,000 employees and operates 69 production plants in 19 different countries.
