Solar Spirit team is building the third generation solar car.

New Solar Spirit CarTAFE SA has been involved in the World Solar Challenge since 2000. With the latest technology available, the Solar
Spirit team is building the third generation solar car.

To be competitive and build the most efficient solar car in the October 2009 WSC, TAFE SA is seeking R&D partners to invest in the project. The R&D investment is for the development of new or modified uses of manufactured products. The R&D will enable the components to be used in the future manufacture of plug-in type electric vehicles with efficient rechargeable energy devices.

The Solar Spirit project has three stages.

STAGE 1. Design and build the "Solar Spirit Electric Vehicle" to be first across the line in October 2009

STAGE 2. Design and build the "Solar Electric Vehicle Sedan" able to be recharged via 240V power point

STAGE 3. Enable commercial production of plug-in "Spirit" Electric Vehicles

This investment will get the Solar Spirit ready for the 2009 event and provide the momentum towards the 2011 event.
